The Vancouver Pride Parade passed barely a block from our apartment building, so of course we had to make our way out to watch it! It seemed unfortunate, as a lot of the floats were just cars with companies' logos plastered on it. There was almost no community compared to the other pride parades I've seen in other cities (Montreal, New York, Brighton) - the leather lovers, the bears, the Gays for Obama, and so forth. Those parades may have changed by now, but this one seemed too sanitized for me. I understand that the acceptance by companies and being presentable to families means that the whole idea is being more and more accepted, but it almost seems that the extremes, who used to lead, are being forced (?) into the background. Oh well, not my parade. There were still lots of fun moments and good people around, making for a fun day, and we got our fill of fetish at the after-party on the beach.
