Today is Christine's birthday and for her birthday dinner, she chose Slows BBQ in Detroit. We had seen it on the Food Network while we were in New York and Chris had been desiring southern bbq since then. Not only do they have terrific food and interesting beers and wines that make it a culinary treat to eat there (albeit a messy one if you get the ribs), they have plenty of environmentally-friendly practices and use local, healthy meat. And they are very reasonably priced, way cheaper than going to your Applebees or Chilis or whatever (and way better).
Pictured are the sauces that sit at every table. They don't put any on the ribs while cooking, allowing you to choose the taste for every bite. I loved it.
