We made it into Urfa last night, our easternmost destination in Turkey. It's a terrific city with lots of character and the friendliest people we've encountered yet. We spent the morning wandering through the market - possibly my favourite market in Turkey - and saw the cave where Abraham was born. We ventured to the archaeology museum through the pouring rain to see an even older statue than the one in Amman (this one is 9500 years old), but further research tells me there's one waaaay older in Germany. Still, to have an ancient treasure stuffed in the corner next to the fire extinguisher is kinda weird.
