hot air in cappadocia

Posted by
Ryan (Vancouver, Canada) on 20 April 2010 in Landscape & Rural.

A sleepless night brought us into Cappadocia, as this region is known. Specifically, we set down in Göreme, the centre of the region and best-known for its fairy chimneys, World-Heritage-listed open-air museum, and hot air balloon rides. While the balloon rides were way out of our price range, they were a pleasure to watch. We arrived just as they were going up, so while Chris headed to bed for a few hours of sleep, I went out with my camera to try and capture some of them floating overhead. It was pretty quiet this morning, as a lot of people fly into this heavily-touristed area instead of taking the bus.
