downtown in old town

We made the slow journey back from Kaş to Antalya today to spend a bit of time in this hyper-tourist resort town on the Mediterranean. It's a nice spot, but with an international airport, it's also a magnet for Europeans looking for a quick, cheap getaway on the seaside. Luckily for us (and unluckily for a fair number of people here), the volcano eruption has calmed the skies, so it's pretty quiet here right now. Well, except for people trying to get out - a lot of hotels are booked all up with people who have cancelled flights. I've heard people talking about driving straight through to Germany to get home in time, as it's just the end of Easter vacation for many Europeans this weekend.

The old town in Antalya has a lot of character despite the souvenir stalls and recent renovations. I like wandering through the streets.
