a visit to the new mosque

We had to change hostels, so we got a late start today, then a false start when we found out the boats up the Bosphorus River didn't go where we wanted them to today. Change of plans! Easter Sunday, then would be spent in mosques. First was the (400-year-old) New Mosque, which was beautiful and breathtaking and not terribly busy. That's where the photo is from.

After a quick stop to pick up some Turkish delight, we made our way to the Blue Mosque (pictured yesterday) to go inside. If the last one was breathtaking, this one stopped us breathing completely. Even though it was full of tourists like us, the flying ceilings and gracefully-tiled walls amazed us. Truly gorgeous.
