welcome to istanbul!

A plane brought us all the way over Syria (sniff, no visa) into Turkey, landing at the thoroughly modern Istanbul Ataturk Airport and taking the modern metro into town. Muy buena onda here - good vibes. A bit chilly, it's weird being in these northern latitudes again. Good thing we both purchased extra thick sweater (in warmer countries) to prepare for this.

The photo is right by our hostel. The Blue Mosque, one of the must-sees in town, is highlighted by some of the many tulips in town - we landed right at the beginning of the tulip festival. Did you know that tulips came to the Netherlands from Turkey? I didn't.
