We arrive in Cairo and whoosh - Biblical floods! Well, actually a rather unusual light rain in the morning, but huge HUGE rains in the evening and you know what? Egypt is not built for any drainage. That means flooded streets and people huddling under overhangs and puddles around for days, apparently.
After getting into Cairo and seeing the horrible haze that this rain washed away, we spent the morning chatting with our wonderful host, then headed into Cairo to see a bit of the city (we're staying out in a suburb). We ended up walking down to Islamic Cairo and going through the tourist market nearby. We had hoped to see preparations for the Prophet's birthday tomorrow, but...nothing. It sounds like it's a pretty private celebration.
