new year greetings

Posted by
Ryan (Vancouver, Canada) on 8 February 2010 in People & Portrait.

A very big tradition is to put greetings and wards on all of your doors and sometimes windows around this time of year. You can buy pre-made greetings at many stores, or you can get them painted buy someone like this. These guys sit at markets and paint all day or all evening, responding to requests (they also have a big, thick book full of ideas) and writing a bunch of standard ones that people can pick up quickly. This guy was really friendly and open to me taking his photo. I liked his work as well.
