lantern festival

It's the lantern festival right now - well, more or less. I thought it started two weeks after the new year (the 9th), but the celebrations started this past Monday and continue until the 15th. Maybe they just want to celebrate extra early? There is a lot of paraphernalia for the World Games, which are just five months away.

Lots of ox lanterns, unsurprising as it is the year of the ox. One of my favorites was a robot ox standing over a robot mouse he had killed (last year was the year of the rat). Ox lanterns get a little old after a few dozen of them. I wish we were here during the year of the dragon.
