a stop at loch lomond

Sightseeing up into the Highlands! As we made our way up up up into the northern reaches of Scotland (and as far north as I've ever been in my life), we stopped by Loch Lomond, one of the many lochs (glacial lakes) found up in this region. They can be of almost any size and are found all over. We sampled the regional specialties of shortbread and butter toffee (both to die for) and took a short hiking break along the northern edge of this particularly beautiful loch.

We also drove the length of Loch Ness (no monster sightings) and took a break in Urquhart castle sitting on a small peninsula observing it all. It was a lot of driving, but a day full of tall Scottish peaks, breathtaking waters, and verdant lushness all around. Yay Scotland!
