I almost forgot to include a pic of these two. The blue is the boy, Gaodi, and the pink one is the girl, Hsiungmei. Their names come from splitting the name of the city (Kaohsiung, the K is pronounced as a G, thanks to the messed up Wade-Giles pronunciation system, but that's another story) into Gao and Hsiung and adding part of the word for little brother (didi is little brother) and part of the word for big sister (meimei). Tada! Two cartoonish characters that are still plastered all over the city.
