the gates

We spent part of last Saturday exploring the city of Hengchun, trying to find the four gates - it's the only city in Taiwan with its original gates still left standing. They were in OK shape, though one of them was in the middle of a traffic circle and was surrounded by walls, I think to keep people from trying to drive through it. This one was pretty fantastic.
