first leg up

Well, we set out for Scotland today, doing the first leg up to Glasgow to return the kilts for the wedding. Lots of driving through English, then Scottish countryside. This country really makes me think of old English novels.
I love the English (and in Scotland, it's slightly different, though not a lot) way of constructing old houses (or the old way of constructing houses, I guess). Chimneys, pointy roofs, rock. Very much how I imagined it, I have to say. And of course, lots and lots of green up here, what with all the rain.
