There were plenty of cultures before the Incas rose up and created their empire. One of these were the Mochicas (or Moche) up here in the north. We visted one of their temples today, the Huaca de la Luna. These walls were built and painted 1500 years ago and have only been uncovered (then covered up for fear of rain) recently. They are unrestored - these are the original paintings, saved by sand all this time. Miraculous and breath-taking, these paintings reflect a lot of the life of the times, of little things like the boats (from yesterday) and the hairless dogs around these parts that still exist to this day to the fights put on to determine who would be a sacrifice to the gods when the time came around.
