Well, we drove out to a tiny town this morning to begin our two-day hike to the remote (and still mostly covered) Incan ruins of Choquequirao. The ruins were a retreat for the kind, a fortress protecting the sacred city of Cuzco, and a religious centre, as well as a large town on its own.
It was a pretty intense go - start at 2200 metres, up to 3000 metres, then back down to 2200 metres - and we were a bit sore at the end of the day. Great cloudy weather for hiking out in the open, though, and lots of beautiful plants and wonderful peace out here.
