This train used to go through the mountains into Chile until the time of Carlos Menem. In order to solve the inflation and debt problem, he sold everything that belonged to the country to the private sector. A company from Brazil bought the railroad, then closed it. That was about 15 years ago. They're just now looking at opening it up again.
High mountain tour today. The tallest peak outside of the Himalayas (Mt. Aconcagua, 6962 metres, check out Chris' photo of us in front of it), the beautiful Puente del Inca (Incan Bridge) covered in sulphur, all the way up to the Chilean border. Great day, and a great day for pictures.
