waiting to walk

This is an old picture, but I saw a guy with a group of dogs today that totally took the cake. It was hard to count, but I know I counted more than 17 dogs. Not many more than 20. 20 dogs!

Dog-walking has become a profitable business here since the economic crash. The boyfriend of one of my students does it for a living right now. Walk a few dogs, get some exercise, earn some cash.

It's not all fun and games, though. A guy for the local arts English paper did a walk-along and found it it's hard work getting all the dogs walking in the same direction and understanding dog-to-dog dynamics. You earn your money!

No one carries a pooper-scooper, though. That said, most of them walk on the street to avoid messing up the sidewalks too much.
