After missing out last night on any activities for Chinese New Year, we returned to tiny Chinatown today to see what Buenos Aires had to offer for a holiday originating on the other side of the world.
The streets were packed with people, it was hot, people were pushing, and there was food all over being cooked in oil. It felt a little like being Taiwan again...
I have to say, it was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the celebrations. There were lines to get into all of the shops and restaurants, people buying stuff on the street, and cameras everywhere. It was great to see a counter to the racism that we've encountered at times here, a strong feeling (at times a hatred of) against immigrants, especially Asians. This is the kind of bridge that needs to be built to eliminate that horrible scar that still remains.
