This is a giant metal flower. I don't remember why it's here, but it opens every morning and closes every night except for four evenings: Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, the 25th of May (marks the start of the Revolution against Spain), and the 9th of July (Independence Day). The guy on the left is standing around 'front', but it gives a bit of an indication of size.
