The República Cromañon incident is a national memory here. Two years ago, over 3000 people (or more) stuffed themselves into a club rated for 1000, then someone set off fireworks. The results can be guessed at. Almost 200 dead, many more injured, fire doors wired shut, safety inspections ignored, corruption in the government...the list goes on. You can read more here. Shoes, for some reason, have been adopted as the symbol of the tragedy. No olvidar - don't forget.
